1B. Strategic Integration Plan

CONTRIBUTE TO THE PLANNING, DEVELOPMENT, COMMUNICATION, IMPLEMENTATION, AND EVALUATION OF TECHNOLOGY-INFUSED STRATEGIC PLANS AT THE DISTRICT AND SCHOOL LEVELS.

Reflecting on standard 1B, i.e., strategic integration plan. For this standard, I have developed a unit plan on Mathematics subject for grade 2 level. The unit plan is designed based on the north Vancouver school district template. This unit plan addresses ISTE 1.B as includes the plan, development, communication, implementation, and evaluation of technology-infused strategic plans at the district and school levels.

My experience in developing a unit plan based on the BC curriculum has increased my understanding of the importance of communication and developing higher-order skills to explore 21-st century skills. As the BC curriculum is based on the “Know-Do-Understand” model, I have designed stage 1 of the unit plan with big ideas, core competencies, unit understandings, transfer goals, and Essential questions. Whereas, in the stage 2 of the unit plan, I have implemented the assessment for understanding. In the performance task, I have included an authentic study named the GRASPS task. I believe this form of assessment will engage students to employ their thinking skills and determine the application of essential knowledge, conceptual understanding, and skills attained throughout the learning unit. Also, students will be engaged in authentic tasks and connect their learning with the real world. I have put all my efforts into building the lesson plan and used various strategies for assessing the student’s performance.

Also, I hope this learning plan will help other teachers incorporate technology among students and share ways of using technology in curriculum planning. Further, I will use technology as a communication tool among students, teachers, and parents.

Overall I would like to say that this unit plan meets the expectations of standard 1.B. moving forward, my goal is to continue learning and share my knowledge and experience with students, teachers, and peers.
